What is it?
Most joint problems are caused by arthritis. Sometimes a joint may be damaged by injury. Different diseases affect different joints, example, osteoarthritis affects mainly the hips, spine, and knees of the elderly. Rheumatoid arthritis affects mainly the hand, knees and feet of the middle age and, gout affects mainly people’s finger, leg and big toe joints.

If a joint is painful or swollen with fluid, a doctor will strap it with a crepe bandage and apply an icepack to reduce inflammation and swelling. If a fracture is suspected, an X-ray or physiotherapy may be advised.
