Laryngitis
What is it?
Loss of voice and hoarseness.There are two main type of laryngitis: acute, which is infectious, short-lived and chronic which is longer -lasting. Acute larygitis is usually caused by a virus infection. Chronic laryngitis is frequently the result of emotional stress and strain brough on by singing or shouting or by smoke, fumes or dust.
Symptoms:
Loss of voice, hoarseness, throat discomfort.
Conventional Practice:
For acute laryngitis doctors advise patients to rest their voice, drink plenty of fluids, and if needed, take painkillers. Antibotic are prescribed if infection has spread to the lungs. Patients are advised to avoid smoke, dust and irritants
