Mosquito Bites
What is it?
In some parts of the world, mosquito bites transmit parasites that cause serious diseses such as malaria. If the mosquito takes blood from a person infected with the parasites, it will carry the disease, which will be spread each time it bites and injects saliva into another victim. Of the many diseses, malaria is the most serious. Dengue fever, yellow fever are all spread by mosqitoes.
Symptoms:
Skin irrration, malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever
Conventional Practice:
Visitors to affected areas of Africa and South America should be immunised against yellow fever at least ten days before they travel. If you are visiting malaria-infested areas, your doctor will prescribe daily or weekly tablets. It is vital that antimalaria treatment start at least a week before travel and continue for four weeks after you leave the malaria zone. If you are bitten, calamine lotion and antihistamine creams or tablets will relieve the symptoms. Some malaria parasites have an incubation period of ten months, so the symptoms may develop up to ten months after you return from foreign parts.
Alternative Treatments:
  Herbal Medicine
The medicinal use of herbs is said to be as old as mankind itself. Tribes still use their traditional knowledge of plant and their healing properties passed on from generation to generation. The armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids took a daily ration of garlic to ward off the pestilential fevers and infections that were rife at the time. More Info
