Nail Problems
What is it?
To keep your nails strong and healthy, wear rubber gloves for household chores, avoid soaking your hands in water for long periods, eat a balanced diet. Deformed nails may show iron deficiency. Pitted nails can be a result of psoriasis. Treatment can be difficult and the problem can recur. Flaking, splitting or chipping nials, lenghty immersion in water is usually to blame and sometimes a shortage of unsaturated fats in the diet. These problems can generally be overcomed by massaging a moisturising cream into the nails, and wearing work or rubber gloves for gardening and indoor tasks. Keep nails fairly short and pile them in one direction only.
Symptoms:
Flaking nails, chipping nails, deformed nails, pitted nails, splitting nails.
Conventional Practice:
Orthodox treatment with antifungal drugs and ointments is usually necessary. Psychotherapy and hypnotherapy have been used to help nail biters come to terms with any insecurity or anxiety at the root of the problem.
Alternative Treatments:
  Herbal Medicine
The medicinal use of herbs is said to be as old as mankind itself. Tribes still use their traditional knowledge of plant and their healing properties passed on from generation to generation. The armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids took a daily ration of garlic to ward off the pestilential fevers and infections that were rife at the time. More Info
