Boils
What is it?
Inflamed, pus-filled areas of infection on the skin often start in a hair follicle. The follicle and surrounding cells in the skin are killed by bacteria, and form thick yellow pus. In some cases several follicles become infected, giving rise to a cluster of boils. The most common place for abscesses to form is in the gums. Boils are most likely to appear when you feel run down or weakened by poor nutrition. If boils are untreated, the infection can spread. Boils should never be squeezed. Medical treatment should be sought. Warning: Bacteria from boils can also find their way into warm food and cause food poisoning.
Symptoms:
Inflamed, pus-filled areas of infection on the skin
Conventional Practice:
A doctor may lance it so that the pus drains away and may also prescribe an antibiotic to kill the bacteria and prevent the infection spreading.
Alternative Treatments:
  Herbal Medicine
The medicinal use of herbs is said to be as old as mankind itself. Tribes still use their traditional knowledge of plant and their healing properties passed on from generation to generation. The armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids took a daily ration of garlic to ward off the pestilential fevers and infections that were rife at the time. More Info
