Baldness
What is it?
Most permanent baldness is due to a common hereditary condition sometimes combined with other factors such as stress, poor diet or poor circulation that affects men more than women. Thinning can start as early as the teens. Women are rarely as severely affected, and usually not until after the menopause. Temporary baldness can be caused by anaemia, a deficiency of the thyroid hormone, scalp infection, illness or pregnancy.
Symptoms:
Hair loss.
Conventional Practice:
Doctors support the use of vitamin supplements and tonics for patients who seem run down. If an illness or some other factor is the cause, the doctor will treat it and your hair should grow again.
Alternative Treatments:
  Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy aims to treat the whole person. Illness is seen as a sign of disharmony or inner imbalance. More Info
  Aromatherapy
Treating illness with highly concentrated oils extracted from plants is known as aromatherapy. These highly scented extracts-called essences or essential oils-contain the substances that give plants their smell. Aromatherapists believe that many also have medicinal properties. More Info
  Naturopathy
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. More Info
