Stings and Bites
What is it?
Insects such as bees and wasps, other creatures such as jellyfish, and plants such as stinging nettles produce poisonous proteins which cause pain in human skin. The site of the sting or bite become red painful and itchy. In rare cases stings cause a dangerous allergic reaction called anaphylactic shock. The victim’s blood pressure falls and he becomes light headed and short of breath with a rapid weak pulse. Immediate medical attention is recommended.
Symptoms:
Red painful and itchy skin.
Conventional Practice:
Doctors and paramedics treat anaphylactic shock by an adrenaline injection, followed by an injection of antihistamine, together with basic life support if the patient is unconscious.
Alternative Treatments:
  Naturopathy
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga.
