Bacterial infection of eyelash roots is the cause of styes – small boils on the glands that lubricate eyelashes. Symptoms are redness and a swelling on the eyelid, which comes to a head after a few days and discharges pus.
Redness and a swelling on the eyelid, lump.
Conventional Practice:
A stye ususally heals on its own. Antibiotics may be prescribed if the stye is particularly severe or slow to heal. A persistent lump on an eyelid may be a meibomian cyst which may prove troublesome and can be removed by minor surgery.
