Throat Problems
What is it?
The average sore throat lasts about three to four days. A virus or bacterium is generally the cause. Several factors can lessen resistance to such infection, including tiredness, an unhealthy diet, smoking, over-indulgence in alcohol, or any form of stress. Get enough sleep, and follow a healthy diet. Do not smoke or take alcohol. A drink can be made by adding the juice of fresh lemon, honey and glycerine to a glass of hot water. Alternatively, drink agrimony tea.WarningIf a sore throat last more than four days, consult a doctor. It may be an early symptom of glandular fever, mumps or scarlet fever.
Symptoms:
Sore throat.
Conventional Practice:
Most sore throats go away of their own accord. If necessary, a doctor may prescribe antibiotics to clear up bacterial infections, and in severe cases, painkillers such as paracetamol.
Alternative Treatments:
  Naturopathy
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. More Info
  Herbal Medicine
The medicinal use of herbs is said to be as old as mankind itself. Tribes still use their traditional knowledge of plant and their healing properties passed on from generation to generation. The armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids took a daily ration of garlic to ward off the pestilential fevers and infections that were rife at the time. More Info
  Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy aims to treat the whole person. Illness is seen as a sign of disharmony or inner imbalance. More Info
