What is it?
Deafness falls into one of two main categories: conductive deafness which is curable, and nerve deafness which is not. Causes of conductive deafness include infections, earwax and sudden loud noises. Nerve deafness occurs when the auditory nerve which carries stimuli from the ear to the brain is damaged. This is usually caused by viral infections such as measles, mumps and rubella. Never attempt to relieve deafness yourself.

Conventional Practice:
Where deafness is conductive, most doctors do not object to the use of alternative remedies. They agree with naturopaths in using warm oil to treat earwax. If these methods are not sufficient, they may syringe the ear.
Alternative Treatments:
  Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga.   Chiropractors set out to correct disorders of the joints, muscles and spine. Spinal problems can cause pain in the spine and other parts of the body including the shoulder, arm, hip and leg. More Info
