Emphysema
What is it?
Occurs when tiny air sacs in the lungs become distended and rapture. This damages the lungs’ elasticity making them less efficient and slowing down their flow of blood. Heavy smokers and people living or working in polluted atmosphere are mostly at risk. The main symptoms are breathlessness and blueness of the lips.
Symptoms:
Breathlessness, blueness of lips.
Conventional Practice:
Patients with severe breathing problems may be given oxygen and antibiotics may be prescribed to control secondary infection. A doctor will certainly advise sufferers to stop smoking, take regular exercise in fresh air and avoid polluted atmosphere.
