Frostbite
What is it?
Ice crystals form in the body tissues when their temperature falls to about minus 5 degrees. They damage the tissues, restrict blood circulation, and eventually cause blood clotting. Without immediate treatment the frozen tissue will die, causing gangrene, and amputation may become necessary. To prevent frostbite, wear several layers of light, warm, loose clothing with a waterproof and windproof layer on top. Protect ears with muffs, keep your head warmly covered and wear a face mask.
Symptoms:
Frozen tissue, low body temperature, poor circulation, gangrene.
Conventional Practice:
Once frostbite has set in, swift treatment is essential. Conventional first aid aims to restore circulation quickly but gently with indirect warmth.
Alternative Treatments:
  Naturopathy
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. More Info
