Glandular Fever
What is it?
Children and young adults are most prone to glandular fever. It is caused by a virus infection and is passed on by close contact. The patient develops a sore throat swollen lymph glands in the neck, armpits and groin. There may also be a rash and somtimes the liver is affected and the patient develops jaundice. Diagnosis can be confirmed by a blood test. The patient may be unwell for two to eight weeks or even more.
Symptoms:
Sore throat, rash, swollen glands, fever and jaundice.
Conventional Practice:
Doctors will advise rest, plenty of liquids and a painkiller to relieve discomfort and reduce fever.
