Hypoglycaemia
What is it?
If the brain is starved of glucose because the bloodstream contains too little sugar, a condition known as hypoglycaemia occurs. The patient rapidly becomes sweaty and confused and has a rapid pulse. Without treatment, unconciousness may follow. Hypoglycaemia can be caused by alcoholism. Rarely, non-diabetic people can suffer from hypoglycaemia, experiencing hunger, confusion, irritability and sometimes sweating. These symptoms are relieved by eating.
Symptoms:
Rapid pulse, sweating, confusion, irritability, hunger.
Conventional Practice:
Doctors treat acute hypoglycaemia in diabetic patients by giving sugar or by intravenous injection. Doctors may do biochemical test to explore serious hormone or enzyme disturbances. Symptoms in non-diabetics are more commonly caused by anxiety.
Alternative Treatments:
  Naturopathy
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. More Info
