What is it?
Hypothermia occurs when the temperature drops to about 35 degree centigrade and blood metabolism starts to slow down and shivering starts. At about 33 degree centigrade shivering stops and the victim becomes confused and unsteady. Unconciousness occurs at about 30 degree centigrade and death, if help is not urgently received. Eat at least one good hot meal daily and take hot drinks when needed. Keep active and do not stay in one position for a long time. Always wear plenty of warm clothes when outdoor in severe weather and indoors when heating is inadequate.
Shivering, unsteadiness, confusion, unconciousness.
Conventional Practice:
Anyone suffering from hypothermia needs urgent medical help. Call a doctor immediately, wrap the victim’s head in blankets. Never give alcohol to a hypothermia victim or massage the body because this draw blood away from the vital organs to the skin.
Alternative Treatments:
Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. More Info
