Indigestion
What is it?
Eating too quickly and too much is one of the main causes of indigestion. It is often accompanied by belching, wind and bringing up of acids through the gullet and into the mouth. Causes include rich, fatty foods, smoking, and drinking too much alcohol and drinks containing caffeine. Symptoms of indigestion can also be caused by a variety of other ailments including gall stones, hernia, obesity and ulcer.
Symptoms:
Belching, wind, vomitting, abdominal discomfort.
Conventional Practice:
A doctor may send you to hospital for a barium meal and X-ray or to have an endoscopy of the stomach. He or she may also prescribe an antacid or a drug to reduce the amount of stomach acid.
Alternative Treatments:
  Herbal Medicine
The medicinal use of herbs is said to be as old as mankind itself. Tribes still use their traditional knowledge of plant and their healing properties passed on from generation to generation. The armies of slave workers who laboured to build the Egyptian pyramids took a daily ration of garlic to ward off the pestilential fevers and infections that were rife at the time. More Info
  Acupuncture
An ancient Chinese therapy, patients are treated by sticking needles into their skin at particular points. These acupuncture points lie along invisible energy channels called meridians. The needles are said to unblock a flow of energy (called Qi) through the meridians. More Info
