Homoeopathy aims to treat the whole person. Illness is seen as a sign of disharmony or inner imbalance. Homoeopaths say that the more closely a remedy imitates a patients symptoms, the better it promotes healing. Homoeopaths pay most attention to symptoms that have the greatest effect on patients overall ability to function particularly mental or emotional symptoms. Homoeopathic remedies must be matched both to the symptoms and to the individual. So the same symptom, a cold for example, may be treats differently if the victim is a jovial, outgoing, overweight person, than in case of a thin, nervous patient with few friends.
Homoeopaths believe that in the course of a cure, symptoms change from more important to less important bodily systems, and from the inside of the body outwards-so, for example, heart symptoms may move to the skin as healing occurs.
